Console Design and Features
The Wii Console (aka Revolution) looks very sleek, and is smart and compact in its design. Its
features will include:
-
SD Memory Card for easy internal memory expansion
-
Dual disc format (via a single bay), for both the new Wii/Revolution format and
standard GameCube discs.
-
Specification (based on the Japan spec): 512 megabytes of internal flash
memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. Its
heart is a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway," and a
graphics chip set from ATI code-named "Hollywood," will deliver truly amazing
game experiences.
New Free-hand-style Controller
Nintendo is one of the few manufacturers to move away from the traditional
controller. The Wii/Revolution is to offer a new “free-hand-style” controller,
which can be used in a one-handed fashion, offering a refreshingly alternative
and intuitive approach to gaming. This new human-interface will allow players
to run, jump, spin, slide, shoot, steer, accelerate, bank, dive, kick, throw
and score in a way never experienced in the history of gaming.
When held and pointed at the screen, the controller gives a rapid element of
interaction, dictated by movement of the controller itself. The controller also
allows for a variety of expansions, including a "nunchuk" style analog unit
offering the enhanced game-play control hard-core gamers demand.
Backward compatibility
The Wii/Revolution will provide full support for your favourite Nintendo GameCube
games, along with the last two decades of Nintendo 64, SNES and even NES games,
via download.
