The Dynamic Web: A Server-side Perspective
Dave Clarke, BCS Seminar, March 1999
Abstract
The World Wide Web is a rapidly changing field. What was essentially
once a set of static pages, has now become a complex web of dynamic information-driven
pages and applications, connecting to a variety of database back-end systems
and information sources. But how are these web applications and sites
produced? What tools and technologies are appropriate? What other issues
are involved?
This presentation will give an insight into how dynamic web sites are
constructed, focussing in particular on server-side approaches and solutions.
Various technologies will be discussed, including examples where relevant
on how they may be used. The pros and cons of driving dynamic web applications
from the server will also be highlighted.
