Resources - PublicationsUsabilityNews Accessibility Project: Making a web site accessible 'after' it is liveClarke D T, Light A and Paddison CPresented on Industry Day at HCI 2003 conference, Bath, 8-12th September 2003AbstractThe aim of the UsabilityNews Accessibility Project (UNAP) was to investigate the accessibility of the current UsabilityNews web site, and answer the question, “Is it relatively easy to make a web site accessible after it is live, with minimal investment of time and money?” UNAP is a joint project between IBM Warwick ‘Ease of Use’ and the UsabilityNews team (British HCI Group). The project commenced with a user survey and an accessibility heuristic evaluation of the present design. This highlighted some new requirements and a number of accessibility problems with the site, which were fixed with 1.5 days of effort. The final user tests indicated that the resultant web site was more usable and accessible as a result.
